BVB strike Pienaar deal
Steven Pienaar has agreed to join Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season.
Ajax midfielder Steven Pienaar has agreed to join Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund at the end of the current season.BVB executive chairman Hans-Joachim Watzke confirmed on Monday that the 23-year-old had agreed a three-year deal with the 1997 European champions.
"He will definitely be coming in the summer at the latest," he told Kicker.
Dortmund will now reportedly await the outcome of negotiations with Atletico Madrid over the future of Czech midfielder Tomas Rosicky and bring Pienaar to the Westfalenstadion during the winter transfer window, should the Spanish side meet the Schwarz-Gelben's ‚é¼13 million (£8.8 million) asking price for the playmaker.
Pienaar made it clear that he would not sign a new deal at Ajax and they may well accept an offer from BVB in January if the Germans free up some funds.
A clutch of teams had expressed interest in signing Pienaar, including Manchester City, but the South African's preference was always to head to Dortmund.
