No Gers move for striker

Jean-Claude Darcheville's agent insists the Bordeaux striker will not be joining Rangers.

Jean-Claude Darcheville's agent insists the Bordeaux striker will not be joining Rangers in the New Year.

Darcheville is out of contract at the end of the season and has yet to open talks regarding an extension, with Bordeaux reluctant to cash in during January's transfer window.

A move to Ibrox has been strongly mooted, although Gers boss Alex McLeish, who coveted Darcheville while in charge of Hibernian, was cool on an imminent bid.

The former Nottingham Forest flop's agent Karim Djaziri also scotched talk of a switch to the Scottish champions in the face of persistent rumours of a deal close to being brokered.

Djaziri said: "He won't go to Rangers."

French rivals Marseille and Paris Saint Germain are prepared to make a summer bid for Darcheville, while German outfit Schalke are keeping tabs.

West Ham United have also watched the experienced front man this season, but Djaziri intimated a winter move to Upton Park is unlikely.

"In his mind, he is a Bordeaux player until the end of the season," added Djaziri, "unless there is a big offer from a top-class club."
