Barca reaffirm Henry plans

Barcelona have once again admitted that they will try and sign Thierry Henry this summer.

Barcelona have once again admitted that they will try and sign Thierry Henry this summer.

The Spanish giants have been constantly linked with a move for Henry and they have never hidden their interest in the French maestro.

President Joan Laporta admitted to a Barca fans forum on Monday that Henry would indeed be one of their main transfer targets this summer.

"We will all we can to sign Henry," he is quoted as saying.

Arsenal are desperate to keep Henry ahead of the move to their new Emirates Stadium home, but they are yet to tie him to a new contract.

The Gunners now fear that Henry has decided to follow his close friend Patrick Vieira out of North London, but will nevertheless continue talks to try and persuade him to commit his long-term future.

The final decision is likely to lie with Henry and therefore it will depend on whether the Gunners skipper feels he has anything more to give to the English game.

Henry, meanwhile, is sweating over the results of a scan he has had on his injured Achilles.

It is reported that Henry picked up a knock against Chelsea and now it is feared he could be sidelined for weeks - although Arsenal are hopeful that medical experts will give him the all clear.
