Vidic reveals mystery bidder

Nemanja Vidic has revealed there is a third club battling for his signature.

Nemanja Vidic has confirmed there is a third team in for his signature as reports claim Liverpool are competing for the services of the Spartak Moscow defender.

The Serbia & Montenegro international is a target for Manchester United and Fiorentina, but Anfield chief Rafa Benitez is rumoured to have thrown his hat into the ring.

Vidic is hoping for developments within the next few days, despite the fact that Christmas is looming, although he has denied suggestions that he has already held talks with United over a contract.

Speaking from his home in Serbia, the 24-year-old told Sport Express: "Every day, I wait for news from Moscow.

"It's not true [that I was in talks with United on Sunday]. It's not true [that United representatives have contacted me directly].

"How much I know is that negotiations are conducted between the clubs.

"I have had an unforgettable year and a half, and have got acquainted with remarkable people.

"But understand that I wish to play in a stronger championship. At 24 years old, as a football player, I want to progress."

When asked if United were the first option but who were the second, he replied: "Fiorentina. There is also a third option but I would not like to name neither the club nor the country.

"Then, it is impossible to completely exclude that I remain at Spartak if, in fact, the clubs eventually cannot agree.

"I hope [the situation] is resolved in the next few days. It is hard to be in this suspended state."
