Reet returns to Owls

Sheffield Wednesday have recalled striker Danny Reet from his loan at Bury.

Sheffield Wednesday boss Paul Sturrock has recalled striker Danny Reet from his loan at Bury.

The youngster leaves the League Two club after making seven appearances in nearly two months on loan with The Shakers.

After initially spending a month with Chris Casper's side, Sturrock insisted on a 24-hour recall clause to be included in his second month extension.

The Owls manager has opted to use that clause to bring Reet back to Hillsborough, as Sturrock tries to find a solution to his club's recent goal drought.

Wednesday have failed to find the scoresheet in their last seven Championship contests, with the South Yorkshire club currently occupying one of the relegation places.

"It's disappointing to lose such a good player," Casper told Bury's official website.

"I'm very pleased for Danny and everything has worked out well for him during his time here. Danny is a good player and showed great attitude.

"If things change in January, I will definitely look at getting him back to Gigg Lane."

One drawback for The Owls is Reet is now cup-tied after appearing for Bury in the FA Cup first round defeat at Scunthorpe United back in November.
