Millwall skipper signs on

Millwall captain David Livermore has penned a new long-term contract.

Millwall captain David Livermore has pledged his future to the Championship side and penned a new long-term contract.

The 25-year-old has been handed a four-year deal by the South London outfit.

"I have said virtually from the moment I arrived here that David Livermore is an absolutely vital player for us and that we should do everything in our power to keep him here," Lions director of football Colin Lee told the club's website.

"I am very pleased we have now achieved that, and I'm hopeful that others we are in the process of trying to re-sign will see this as evidence that we have now turned the corner and are moving forward again."

Livermore added: "We're facing a very tough battle to avoid relegation, but it is one we're all very much up for, and with the chance to bring in new players in January, I feel we've got a decent chance of succeeding.

"I wouldn't have signed a contract, which will effectively mean that I'll be at Millwall for the rest of my career, if I didn't believe that the club has a bright future.

"I'm glad this has been settled now, and I'm looking forward to trying to give the fans a bit of a lift over Christmas by picking up some good results in the next few games."
