Roma's Shabani Nonda will miss the African Cup of Nations after undergoing surgery.
It has been confirmed that Roma striker Shabani Nonda will miss the African Cup of Nations.The Congo star would have played a key role for his country in the continental competition in Egypt later this month.
Nonda underwent surgery on December 16 for a knee cartilage problem, ending his Serie A participation for 2005, and he will now miss the chance to star in the Africa's showcase tournament between January 20 and February 10.
Meanwhile Cameroon midfielder Modeste M'Bami has opted not to travel to Egypt as he looks to recover his best form with French side Paris Saint Germain.
The African Cup of Nations has sparked a number of club versus country disputes, and M'Bami has opted to side with the Ligue 1 outfit.
