Doncaster Rovers have moved to sign Southampton goalkeeper Alan Blayney for £50,000.
Rovers boss Dave Penney waded into the transfer market in order to provide cover for injured first-choice keeper Jan Budtz.
The massive Dane will be sidelined for eight weeks after it emerged that he suffered a broken bone in his hand during the 1-0 home defeat against Yeovil on Monday.
"I never thought it was a come down coming to Rovers as I think they are a team going up and I could soon be in The Championship with them," Blayney told the club's official website.
"I heard in the summer that they were looking at me but nothing came of it but as soon as they came in this time I jumped at the chance."
Meanwhile, Neil Roberts will be out for up to eight weeks with a broken toe while his namesake, Steve, is awaiting the results of a scan on his ruptured tendons.
During a busy time at Belle Vue it has also been confirmed that Uros Predic and Adam Hughes have left the club after their short-term deals expired.
