Warner stays with Fulham

Fulham have wrapped up the permanent capture of Tony Warner from Cardiff.

Fulham continued their activity in the transfer market when wrapping up the permanent capture of Tony Warner from Cardiff.

Cottagers boss Chris Coleman signed Simon Elliott on Tuesday, Jose Fonte is expected to seal a move to Craven Cottage this week and Warner has turned his loan stay from Cardiff into a permanent arrangement by signing a two-and-a-half-year deal.

Warner was drafted in by Cottagers chief Chris Coleman when Mark Crossley and Jaroslav Drobny were hit by injuries and he has impressed the Welsh tactician in the last five months.

The 31-year-old has slipped behind Crossley in the pecking order, but Coleman feels he had to secure a capable understudy for the remainder of the season.

"Tony has been in impressive form for us and it was important to secure his services for the rest of this campaign and beyond," Coleman told the club's website.

"Both Mark Crossley and Jaroslav Drobny were injured at the beginning of the season which gave Tony the opportunity to show his ability early.

"He has been a great asset to the squad, so we are delighted to sign him permanently."
