Souey wants to emulate Keegan
Graeme Souness wants his Newcastle United team to be entertaining.
Graeme Souness wants his Newcastle United team to be just as entertaining as Kevin Keegan's vintage side in the nineties.
The Magpies boss was outlining his ambitions for the club in an exclusive interview with Sky Sports News.
"I remember coming here with Liverpool to play Newcastle with Kevin Keegan's team," he said. "They were great entertainers and that's the type of football I want to see here, plus being able to win something.
"That's what I want for me, first and foremost, and for the supporters as well.
"We're all striving for that.
"I just want to get this right like no-one can imagine. I haven't got the words in my vocabulary to tell you how disappointed I am when we don't win a game.
"It's going to be a difficult season but I can only do my very best.
"I think I've lived my life one way and that's never say die. That's the way I'll continue to live life.
"The challenge is there before me and I'm up for any challenge that anyone wants to throw at me.
"I believed when I took the job, I was the right man for it and I still do."
Meanwhile, sources in France claim Souness wants to offer Marseille defender Abdoulaye Meite a six-month loan deal.
As previously reported on skysports.com, the Ivory Coast international is a Magpies target but Souness would want the stopper to turn down the chance to represent his country in the African Cup of Nations.
