Real reject Jose link
Emilio Butragueno says Real Madrid are not preparing a move for Jose Mourinho.
Emilio Butragueno has denied reports that Real Madrid are preparing to prise Jose Mourinho away from Chelsea in the summer, and has stated that the club are happy with their current coach. The Bernabeu club's vice-president was reacting to stories in the Spanish media suggesting that the Blues manager is the number one target for the club.
"There has been absolutely no contact with either Mourinho or his manager," said Butragueno.
"We are very pleased with (Juan Ramon) Lopez Caro."
With Madrid lying in sixth place and 13 points behind league leaders and arch rivals Barcelona, Butragueno explained that he is not concerned about the huge gap.
"It is not normal for us to be 13 points behind Barcelona," Butragueno continued.
"But we have to take things one game at a time. We will carry on fighting and it is not important if Barcelona are ahead of us or anyone else.
"Last year we were in a similar situation with Barca. We never wave goodbye to the league title. We will take each game as it comes and never give up on winning anything.
"We want to give our fans something to cheer about and with three consecutive games in the Bernabeu coming up this is a good chance to do that.
"The team is playing better and, although we have not won the games, things are progressing and are an improvement on previous weeks.
"We have made mistakes, but it is important now that the attitude of the team is good and we know that if we carry on playing like this then the results will come."
Butragueno finally reflected on the recurrence of Ronaldo's calf injury during the goalless draw at Villarreal that could see the Brazilian sidelined for at least three weeks.
"He is an important player in the team and it is a sad that he will be out," he added.
"I do not think that it was a mistake to play him in El Madrigal because he had been training well in the last few weeks.
"The injury is a sensitive one for a player like him, with his strength and speed. Everyone must be patient and ensure that he does not have another relapse."
