O's duo depart

Leyton Orient have release defenders Joe Dolan and Christian Hanson.

Leyton Orient have release defenders Joe Dolan and Christian Hanson.

Dolan only arrived in the summer from Millwall, but he has failed to make the expected impact at Brisbane Road and has now departed.

"Unfortunately things didn't work out as we'd expected with Joe," said O's chief Martin Ling.

"He always gave 100 percent but he wasn't able to force his way into the team and we agreed amicably that the best course of action was to release him from his contract so he can try and re-start his career elsewhere."

Ling has also confirmed that Hanson has departed.

"Christian was unfortunate as he was cup-tied for the away game at Rushden and that was when Brian Saah was able to come on and perform at centre-back," Ling said.

"Brian did well over the next two games too so with him already under contract he's moved above Chris in the pecking order and that means it'll be tough for him to get a game."

Hanson is now set to join non-league high-flyers Grays Athletic.

Meanwhile, Ling has told Dutch trialist Paul Weerman that he will not be offered a new deal - although Basingstoke's Justin McKay is likely to get another chance to impress.
