Hearts seal Barasa deal

Hearts have secured the signing of Lithuanian international Nerijus Barasa.

Hearts have secured the signing of Lithuanian international Nerijus Barasa.

The 27-year-old impressed manager Graham Rix whilst on trial and he has now arrived on loan from FBK Kaunas - who signed him from Russian club Krylya Sovetov Samara.

The deal involving Kaunas is just the latest of its type as Hearts' owner Vladimir Romanov often uses his Lithuanian-club to sign a player before then loaning him to Tynecastle.

"We're delighted to complete the signing of Nerijus," said Rix. "He's worked extremely hard during his trial period here.

"International clearance has arrived, and so we're pleased to add him into the squad for tomorrow's match against Dunfermline Athletic."

While Barasa impressed during his trial, Pole Michal Golinski did not have the same impact and he has now returned home.

Another player due to complete a move to the club is Australian Matthew Park.

The Under-17 international has travelled to Edinburgh from Melbourne and is set to sign from Frankston Strikers.

Park is not the only exciting youngster set to arrive as Hearts are understood to be closing in on Bulgarian starlet Branimar Kostadinov.

The 16-year-old has been training with the club this week and is understood to have impressed.

While Hearts' Academy is set to receive a boost - they could be set to loose highly rated Daniel Galbraith.

Manchester United have been tracking the 16-year-old for a number of months and opened talks last year.

Hearts youth director John Murray expects a deal to happen shortly.

"The boy is still a Hearts player and there is a fee to sort out, but he wants to go and we aren't going to stop him going."

Another player on his way out of Tynecastle could be Ibrahim Tall.

The Frenchman is yet to make his debut for Hearts since his summer move from Sochaux and now Rix admits he could go.

"There has been contact from other clubs," said Rix.

"It's important that players further their careers and if they get the chance to that that then they've got to take it."
