Crespo bang on target
Opta analysis shows that Hernan Crespo is one of the best strikers around.
The Premiership halfway mark has now passed and Chelsea seem to be sitting comfortably at the top of the league with an ever-growing gap between themselves and second place.
With The Blues still in contention for the FA Cup and UEFA Champions League, they have a good chance at the Treble and pressure is building up on the front men to perform week in, week out and come up with the goals Chelsea need to take them to League and Cup success.
Whilst Didier Drogba is away on international duty with the Ivory Coast, Hernan Crespo has the opportunity to seal a permanent place in Jose Mourinho's starting line-up and prove to Argentina boss Jose Pekerman that he should be the first striker on the team sheet for the World Cup finals in Germany.
| Player | Apps | Goals | Shots On Target | Shots Off Target | Goals to Shots Ratio | Shooting Accuracy | |
| Hernan Crespo | 17 | 8 | 17 | 8 | 32% | 68% | |
| Didier Drogba | 19 | 7 | 17 | 22 | 18% | 44% | |
Crespo has been in magnificent form, converting nearly every one in three shots. The Argentinian has had just eight shots off target in 17 appearances for Chelsea, including hitting the woodwork twice.
Team-mate Drogba has had the same amount of shots on target, but has scored one less goal and has had nearly three times as many shots off target.
Crespo is one of the best strikers at shot selection and taking his chances in The Premiership as the statistics show. This new IOKIO viewing tool displays a map of all Crespo's shots on target (yellow), goals (red) and misses / woodwork (blue) this season.
