Bolton Wanderers' El Hadji Diouf has escaped prison in his homeland.The Senegal star was accused of assaulting Aichatou Ba - the ex-wife of Trotters team-mate Khalilou Fadiga, in a Dakar nightclub last July.
The prosecutor for the case wanted Diouf jailed for six-months - but instead, he was handed a 500,000 franc (£500) fine.
"The court recognised that there was small contact between Diouf and Ba," Diouf's lawyer Demba Cire Bathily said.
"Ba wanted to talk to Diouf and stood in his way. Diouf pushed her slightly."
