Leeds' Griffiths delay fury
Leeds have complained over continual delays in being able to field Joel Griffiths.
Leeds United have complained to FIFA over continual delays in receiving international clearance for new signing Joel Griffiths. The Australian midfielder completed his Elland Road switch last week, although he was unable to feature in Leeds' 3-0 weekend win over Sheffield Wednesday or their reserve outing on Monday.
The West Yorkshire outfit have now waited a week for Griffiths' old club Neuchatel Xamax to issue international clearance, a delay the club find unacceptable.
"Leeds United have officially complained to FIFA after Neuchatel Xamax failed to issue international clearance for Joel Griffiths," chief executive officer Shaun Harvey told the club's official website.
"The club completed the transfer seven days ago and no justifiable reason has been provided by the Swiss club for not issuing the appropriate consent.
"The FA have raised the matter with their Swiss counterparts and are fully supportive of our position. We hope the matter will be resolved with the minimum of further delay."
