Basingstoke sign South American
Basingstoke Town have added to their recent policy of recruiting young foreign imports.
Nationwide South side Basingstoke Town have added to their recent recruitment of promising young foreign imports with the capture of Argentina playmaker Sacha Funes.
The 21-year-old made his debut for Basingstoke at the weekend as a second half substitute against Eastbourne Borough, and becomes the third young player to travel across the Channel to the Camrose.
Manager Eddie Howe has previously recruited Christian Levis and Sergio Torres, with the latter now making his way up the league football pyramid.
After a string of impressive performances for Basingstoke, Torres earned a move to League Two leaders Wycombe Wanderers in the summer and opened his account for the Chairboys in last week's 2-0 home win over Notts County.
Funes has signed from Spanish club Union Deportiva Marbella, and manager Howe will now hope that the flamboyant midfielder will provide just what his side needs as they push for a play-off place during the latter half of the season.
