Davids blow for Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Edgar Davids has fractured his leg.

Tottenham Hotspur have suffered an injury blow with the news that Edgar Davids has fractured his leg.

The Dutchman sustained the injury during Tottenham's goalless draw with Aston Villa last weekend after a tackle with Gavin McCann.

Scans have shown that Davids has suffered a hairline fracture of the fibula.

Despite the injury, Spurs boss Martin Jol remains hopeful the former Juventus man could be fit before the end of the month.

"Edgar has a hairline fracture so he could be out next week, but he's a tough guy so hopefully he'll be fit," Jol told the club's official website

"Normally, you would be out for a couple of weeks but with Edgar, he's tough and can play with a bit of pain. We will assess him again later this week."

Davids will be joined on the sidelines by Teemu Tainio after he picked up an ankle problem against Villa.

The Finnish star is expected to be out of action for up to three weeks with the injury.

"Teemu got an injury late on and he's looking at two to two-and-a-half weeks, but he's tough as well and wants to play," added Jol.
