Hibs land Kiwi hit-man

Hibernian have signed New Zealand international Chris Killen from Oldham Athletic.

Hibernian have signed New Zealand international Chris Killen from English League One side Oldham Athletic.

The former Manchester City player has signed an 18-month contract with the Scottish Premier League club after completing a medical with the Edinburgh outfit on Wednesday.

The Latics had resisted Hibs' attempts to sign Killen on loan earlier this month, but the Boundary Park club have now agreed to let the hit-man move north on a free transfer.

"We have been watching Chris for some time and were actually looking to sign him this time last year, however, he was scoring too many goals and Oldham were not prepared to release him," Hibees boss Tony Mowbray told the club's official website.

"He adds a degree of depth to the squad and creates even more competition for the striking roles, which has to be good for the club."
