Tilburgers trial Blues man

Eredivisie strugglers Willem II have handed a trial to Chelsea midfielder Joe Keenan.

The 23-year-old has failed to make the grade under Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge and is unlikely to ever force his way into the Chelsea engine room.

He has spent time away from Stamford Bridge on loan at Westerlo and Brentford, but last year's spell with The Bees was cut short on account of an ankle injury.

Keenan, who was handed a four-year contract by former Blues boss Claudio Ranieri in 2002, is unlikely to earn an extended stay at Stamford Bridge and is seemingly playing for his future.

Willem II have been alerted to his availability and will assess him over the next couple of days before deciding whether to push through a deal.

The Tilburgers are in need of reinforcements as they are just one place off the foot of the table and in real relegation trouble.
