Vukic leaves Pompey

Zvonimir Vukic has left the club and secured a six-month loan deal with Partizan Belgrade.

Portsmouth's Zvonimir Vukic has left the club and secured a six-month loan deal with Partizan Belgrade.

The Serbia & Montenegro international has struggled to make an impact at Fratton Park since joining the Premiership strugglers on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk.

Portsmouth have yet to confirm that they have cancelled their loan deal, but the player seems set for a return to his former club.

"I'm glad I'll have the chance to help my beloved Partizan clinch another title," said Vukic.

"I'll do my best to help my new and old team-mates erase Red Star Belgrade's three-point lead at the winter break and win the championship once again."

The 26-year-old added that despite the good nature of the club, he did not enjoy his time there.

"As for Portsmouth, I can only say that some not-so-good things happened to me there.

"Still, I really wish them all the best in the Premier League, it is a good club with good people but I must say I'm glad I came here."

Vukic is expected to be in the Serbia & Montenegro squad for the World Cup finals, but had made only nine appearances for Pompey this season.
