Givet slams Colmar pitch

Gael Givet has blamed the playing conditions at Colmar for Monaco's cup exit.

Gael Givet has slammed the playing conditions at Colmar after Monaco were dumped out of the Coupe de France by the lower league side.

Colmar stunned ASM 1-0 after extra time, but Givet does not believe that the game should have gone ahead in the first place, on a pitch that was frozen and shrouded in heavy fog.

"We are disappointed because we are eliminated, and credit to Colmar, they played well," the defender accepted.

"But I have never played in such conditions, because it was completely unplayable out there and the match should have been postponed.

"People will say I am only complaining because we have been knocked out, but something serious could have happened. It was dangerous for both sets of players.

"It was more like ice hockey than anything else."
