Jackie eyes early return

Wolves' Jackie McNamara is hoping to be back before the end of the season.

Wolves' Jackie McNamara is hoping to be back before the end of the season.

The Scottish international moved to Molineux in the summer, but after just nine games he suffered a cruciate knee injury which looked to have ended his campaign.

However, the 32-year-old's progress has been very good and he is now looking at a possible return in six weeks.

"On my last visit to the surgeon he said he was happy with the way it was progressing and that I was a little bit ahead of schedule," he said.

"So I am hoping I'll get the green light to be involved in things again in six weeks or so.

"I have always been hopeful that I would play some part in the season again, and that is my aim as long as things keep going well.

"I am just at the frustrating part now where I feel good and I think I could go on and do more, but I have to hold back a little bit.

"The risk is always that I could set myself back by doing too much and so I have to try and not get ahead of myself."
