Chelsea Farfan talk played down

Jefferson Farfan's agent has dismissed talk that Chelsea have tabled an offer.

Jefferson Farfan's agent has dismissed suggestions that Chelsea have tabled an offer for the PSV Eindhoven striker's services.

Farfan has risen to prominence under Guus Hiddink at PSV this term, with his exploits in front of goal keeping the club ahead of AZ Alkmaar and Feyenoord in the Eredivisie.

Reports suggested Chelsea were readying a bid in the region of £6 million to test PSV's resolve, but this talk has been dismissed by Farfan's agent.

"It isn't true that there is an offer from Chelsea," said Raul Gonzalez. "There isn't even an offer from any other European team."

Gonzalez claims the Peruvian is content at the Philips Stadion, but hinted his client could look to move on in the summer if a major European side came calling.

"The truth is that Jefferson is playing very well at PSV Eindhoven and he is scoring goals every week," added Gonzalez. "I don't like to work like other agents do, I don't like the show business and I am not going to use Chelsea's name for creating interest from other European teams in Farfan.

"That's not the way in which I work so I must say as well that there isn't anything with Barcelona, another team to which Farfan has been linked.

"Maybe in June there could be some news and interest in Farfan, but it will have to be serious because he is not going to be transferred to a small team just to be able to play in England.

"It will have to be a big team that would mean a progression in Jefferson's career."

Gonzalez added that Schalke are the only team to make their interest in Farfan known.

"In December there had been interest in Farfan from Schalke, but it did not go any further than that."
