Mihajlovic set to retire
Serbia and Montenegro legend Sinisa Mihajlovic is set to retire this summer.
Former Serbia and Montenegro international Sinisa Mihajlovic has announced his decision to retire this summer.
The controversial 37-year-old is currently playing for Internazionale, but after a successful career of 19 years, the attacking full back has decided that the end of the season will be an appropriate time to call an end to his playing duties.
Mihajlovic joined his friend Roberto Mancini at Inter in the summer of 2004, but has only managed four appearances this season as his tenure comes to a close.
"I've decided, and I think it's right to announce it, that I'll stop playing in just a few months," the talented defender told Corriere dello Sport.
"I'll arrive in May and then I'll close, providing that I can complete a few more games with Inter.
"I've been playing at a high level for 19 years, always in Serie A, and I could play for another season, but I want to end in a big way and leaving a positive memory.
"There is a little Serie A club who are following me for next season, but I've decided to refuse.
"Inter will be my last team and May will be the time to say goodbye."
Mihajlovic plans to remain in football and is ready to join the Inter coaching staff with his pal Mancini.
"In Yugoslavia I have already taken the coaching license, but I'll also do the Italian course.
"I will be a coach, that is clear, and maybe I'll start at Inter.
"I'll enter onto Mancini's staff.
"We've been talking about it for many years, and now the time has arrived to say yes."
Mihajlovic is renowned for being a deadly free kick taker, scoring many goals to earn him his nickname 'Bomber from Borovo'.
The left back came to Italy in 1992 with Roma, and has also played for Sampdoria and Lazio, as well as Inter.
Mihajlovic represented Serbia and Montenegro 63 times, scoring 10 goals before retiring from international football.
