Ilic makes Dons offer

Sasa Ilic has offered to return to Aberdeen to help solve their goalkeeping crisis.

Former Charlton Athletic and Portsmouth goalkeeper Sasa Ilic has offered to return to Aberdeen to help solve their goalkeeping crisis.

The 33-year-old has been without a club since ending last season with Championship side Leeds United.

The former Barnsley, Sheffield United and Blackpool custodian was then unsuccessful in landing a contract with Coca-Cola League leaders Reading during pre-season training back in July.

The Australian, who spent over two months with The Dons a year ago, claims he is ready to help solve Pittodrie boss Jimmy Calderwood's keeper dilemma.

"I'm just a phone call away," Ilic said in The Daily Record.

"I haven't played at all this year, but have maintained my fitness levels and feel ready to play."

Despite Ilic's offer, former Dunfermline Athletic boss Calderwood stated he will need clearance to sign a new player outside the transfer window.

"I appreciate Sasa's offer, but nothing can be done until the SFA give the go-ahead," Calderwood said.
