Beckham: Injury is not serious

David Beckham has revealed that his latest back injury is not serious.

David Beckham has revealed that the back injury he picked up in Real Madrid's defeat to Mallorca is not too serious.

The midfielder, speaking at the launch of Umbro's new red England shirt in Manchester, was substituted just after the hour mark in Son Moix.

However, the England captain still hopes to be involved in Wednesday's international friendly against Uruguay at Anfield.

"I think it was just a little bit of pain and, being cautious, I just came off," he told Sky Sports News at the launch.

The former Manchester United man is looking forward to leading his country out in Germany, in the new shirt.

"I think it's great," he enthused. "1966 was such a big part of our country's history so to have something that can emulate that is special to us.

"It feels good, that's the important part, it looks good and, if we can perform in it, then we'll see.

"That's what we want to do," he replied, when asked about the small matter of repeating Bobby Moore's feat in lifting the biggest prize in the game.

"We've worked hard to get into the position we're in now, in the finals. If we play well and perform, and get a little bit of luck, we have the talent in our team to go all the way."
