Robbie's Keane to remain a Spur

Robbie Keane has capped a superb season by signing a new four-year deal.

Robbie Keane has capped a superb season by putting pen-to-paper on a new four-year deal at Tottenham.

The talented Republic of Ireland international has emerged as a key player in the club's bid for UEFA Champions League football this season after establishing himself as Martin Jol's first choice.

Such has been his form that England hit-man Jermain Defoe has been left kicking his heels for much of the campaign on Spurs' bench, with Keane partnering Mido in an impressive front pairing.

Keane has spoken of his delight at committing his long-term future to White Hart Lane, with the well travelled forward happy now to lay down roots in the capital.

"You've got me for another four years!" the 25-year-old told Tottenham's official website.

"It is something that has been going on for a while, I am just happy it is now signed and I can look forward to a good future with Tottenham.

"This is a club that is going places, I believe that and it is the reason why I signed here from Leeds in the first place. I had the feeling it was a club going in the right direction and I still believe this, especially with how the team are doing and the quality of players that have been bought in.

"I am flattered and delighted the club have given me the opportunity to sign. I am happy and have a lot of good friends here - players and staff.

''Making the right decision was important for me and I feel I have certainly done that."
