Real Betis defender Daniel Alejandro Lembo has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a broken ankle. The Uruguayan has endured an injury-plagued campaign having made only two leagues appearances all term.
The 28-year-old was attempting to battle his way back to full fitness having recently strained the ligaments in his left ankle.
However, the ankle gave way in a training session and, after an awkward fall, Lembo has been given the news he least wanted.
"I have a fracture in the ankle and must spend at least three weeks without moving it," he explained.
It will then take the stopper a further six weeks at least to regain match fitness meaning he is unlikely to appear again this term.
The news is a big blow for Betis boss Lorenzo Serra Ferrer who has seen his plans disrupted by numerous injuries all season.
