Aulas warning for Lyon rivals
Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas believes his team can win the Champions League.
Jean-Michel Aulas has warned Lyon's UEFA Champions League rivals that his team are capable of going all the way and lifting the trophy.Lyon cruised to a 4-0 victory over PSV Eindhoven this week to book their place in the quarter finals, and chairman Aulas was impressed with the performance.
"I am very satisfied with the result and the quality of our play. We showed power and efficiency," he enthused.
"I think that match opens the door to a great adventure. With such a result, we sent a message to the rest of Europe.
"The players have shown that they are able to achieve the greatest feats."
Coach Gerard Houllier also believes that his side have an excellent chance of winning the Champions League, and singled out Tiago, who was doubtful before kick off with an ankle sprain but proceeded to score twice, for special mention.
"I want to congratulate my players because they defeated PSV and offered a great show to the fans," he commented.
"Now Lyon is one of the best European teams, and in elimination matches anyone can win, as Benfica showed (knocking out Liverpool).
"About Tiago, he is a very good player, but above all a great man. Each time there is a key match, he produces."
