Bastianini leaves Yeovil

Argentinean striker Pablo Bastianini has left Yeovil by mutual consent.

Striker Pablo Bastianini has left Yeovil by mutual consent.

The Argentinian has only netted three times in 26 appearances for The Glovers since joining last summer, and is now keen to test himself elsewhere. He will return to South America next week to consider his career options.

Yeovil boss Steve Thompson has admitted that Bastianini's departure is the best outcome for both parties, but wished him every success in future.

"Obviously Pablo has had a difficult time since he arrived in England and he has found the pace of the game totally different in England than in Argentina," Thompson told Yeovil's official website.

"It is with regret that this has happened and Pablo has found life difficult in the UK but now Yeovil Town and Pablo need to move on and we wish Pablo all the best in his future career."

Thompson is determined to add another striker to his ranks, but his request to Newcastle to take Michael Chopra on loan was denied by Magpies boss Glenn Roeder.

A similar offer to take an unnamed West Brom forward on loan was also knocked back.
