Niven happy at new deal
Chesterfield midfielder Derek Niven is delighted with his new two-year contract.
Chesterfield midfielder Derek Niven has expressed his delight at signing a new two-year contract with the Saltergate club.Niven moved to The Spireites from Bolton Wanderers back in March 2004, following an impressive loan spell for the League One club.
Following his 100th appearance for the club last weekend, Niven was pleased to secure a new deal with Roy McFarland's side."I'm pleased to get a new deal and happy to be at Chesterfield," he told the club's official website.
"I've had first-team experience the last two years and it's a great club to be with at the moment."Apart from a couple of bad results recently, we've had a reasonable season and hopefully we can finish off strongly."
Chesterfield lie in ninth place in the League One table - ten points adrift of the play-off places.
