Horsfield blast for Warnock

Sheffield United striker Geoff Horsfield has issued a swipe at manager Neil Warnock.

Sheffield United striker Geoff Horsfield has issued a swipe at manager Neil Warnock as he looks to leave the club.

Horsfield moved to Bramall Lane in a loan deal from West Brom earlier in the season with the intention of completing a permanent switch in the summer.

The move though has quickly soured and the behaviour of Warnock has left Horsfield both bemused and fuming - with the Blades boss informing the 32-year-old hit-man that his future lies away from the Championship promotion hopefuls.

Derby are keen to take the player before Thursday's deadline but should this move fail to materialise, then Horsfield admits he will be left in a uncomfortable position.

''Warnock wants to get rid of me,'' said Horsfield. ''He told me that he cannot see me getting into the team now or next season.

''Then he told me he didn't want me near his club and to train at home.

''I'm gutted to be honest. I've absolutely no idea why this has happened.

''I just can't believe I was signed on this basis and it's all blown up in my face for no reason.''
