Borgetti unhappy with Bolton
Jared Borgetti does not understand Bolton's decision to prevent him playing for Mexico.
Bolton striker Jared Borgetti has voiced his frustration with the Premiership club after being denied the chance to play for Mexico in an upcoming friendly.Although Borgetti has failed to convince Sam Allardyce of his quality since his summer move to The Reebok Stadium, the Trotters boss has still not allowed him to take part in his country's tie with Paraguay on March 29 as a number of his front men currently run the risk of suspension.
As the match in Chicago falls outside Fifa's international calendar Bolton are under no compulsion to release the 32-year-old, although Borgetti says he was still hoping to join his international team-mates with the World Cup fast approaching.
The striker is Mexico's all-time record goalscorer and he admitted to being confused at Bolton's reluctance to free him from his club commitments.
"I do not understand. I am not playing at the moment," Borgetti told Reforma.
"There cannot be any problems with me playing for Mexico. But because the match against Paraguay is not on a Fifa date, my team can refuse.
"I wanted to play for Mexico. I talked to them about that, but I could not. I hoped to travel."
Borgetti's first venture into European football has been a frustrating experience despite his respectable strike-rate, and Allardyce's preference for Kevin Davies in the target man role means the Mexican has resorted to playing reserve team football in order to maintain his fitness.
"I need to play for me and for my national team. Last Wednesday I played 50 minutes (for the reserves)," Borgetti added.
"It was not much, but it was an official match. Although it did not have a great level of football, I did have more minutes on the pitch."
