Davies hits out at Pogatetz
Kevin Davies says Emanuel Pogatetz should be 'embarassed' by their bust-up.
Kevin Davies has hit back at Middlesbrough defender Emanuel Pogatetz, claiming he should be 'embarassed' by their bust-up at The Riverside. Both players became embroiled in a running battle near the end of Middlesbrough's 4-3 win over Bolton Wanderers last weekend.
Pogatetz was furious with Davies after appearing to be caught in the head by the Bolton's striker's elbow.
The Austrian international, who is nicknamed Mad Dog, had to be held back from confronting Davies at the final whistle, as he looked to continue their row.
Davies insists he never intentionally meant to elbow Pogatetz and he claims the player overreacted.
"I would never intentionally hurt anyone. If the ref felt it was intentional, then he would have sent me off," said Davies.
"It's a physical game and you take your knocks. Whatever happens, happens - but my eye was on the ball all the time.
"The linesman and the ref have not punished me and his reaction is a bit embarrassing for him.
"There were a few handbags out there, he got booked and I find it all exaggerated.
"It's not as if you're going to start fighting on the pitch and get sent off."
