Sibum signs new deal

Twente have taken up the option to extend Bas Sibum's contract by an extra season.

The club have endured a difficult season and only this week appointed Fred Rutten and Rene Eijkelkamp as new coaches, but this has not stopped them from focusing on the squad.

Sibum has performed with credit for Twente this term and the board felt he merited a new deal which ties him to the club until 2007.

Sibum was thrilled to be handed a new deal at the Arke Stadion.

"It was completed quickly and that clarity is pleasing," he told the club's website. "Twente are a beautiful club to play for.

"Maybe a one-year extension looks a little short to the public, but in one year a lot can happen."
