Stuttgart have agreed terms with Bundesliga rivals Mainz for midfield playmaker Antonio da Silva.The Schwaben have been struggling going forward all season and see da Silva as the man to help solve some of their problems.
After agreeing a transfer fee with Mainz over the weekend, Stuttgart are now looking forward to holding talks with the 27-year-old Brazilian.
"I'm delighted that we have reached this stage after striking a deal with Mainz," Stuttgart general manager Horst Heldt told the club's official website.
"Antonio da Silva has shown at Mainz that he is able to fulfil the playmaker role at the highest level and in addition he is an extremely useful dead ball specialist."
Da Silva joined Mainz from SV Wehen in 2003 and has scored eight goals in 59 Bundesliga appearances for the club.
