Van den Bergh signs for Wizards

Dave van den Bergh is to play for MLS side Kansas City Wizards next season.

The former Rayo Vallecano star will move to the United States in the summer after signing a two-and-a-half year deal with an option for a further season after that.

Van den Bergh, whose wife is American, had hoped to keep the move quiet until the summer, but news filtered out in the US.

"I hope we can secure European football for FC Utrecht on Wednesday," he said. "That would be a wonderful end."

Van den Bergh has also played for Dutch giants Ajax and scored five times this year for Utrecht.
