Rooney row 'resolved'

The alleged gambling debts accrued by Wayne Rooney have been 'resolved'.

The alleged gambling debts accrued by Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney have been 'resolved', a gambling company claimed on Saturday.

The England international is reported to have run up debts of £700,000 with Goldchip.

However, after meetings with Rooney's management, Goldchip confirmed 'the matter was now closed'.

"Following recent press stories Goldchip is pleased to state that outstanding issues between the company and Wayne Rooney have now been fully resolved as a result of talks between Stephen Smith and Paul Stretford of Proactive Sports Management," read a statement from Goldchip.

"The matter is now closed and there will be no further comment."
