Canas calls time on Betis stint

Juan Jose Canas will leave Real Betis in the summer after 17 years at the club.

Club captain Juan Jose Canas has confirmed he will leave Real Betis at the end of the season after 17 years with the Primera outfit.

The 34-year-old is now well down the pecking order at Estadio Ruiz de Lopera and has made just one start this term, that coming in the home league match against Real Madrid back in October.

The veteran concedes he has no future at the club and will move once the campaign is over, albeit with a heavy heart.

"This year I have hardly played at all and as much as it pains me I have to say goodbye because it's obvious I'm not going to continue here," he stated.

"It's very hard for a player if they are not playing at all.

"I have been at this club 17 years in which time I've had some very happy moments; I've grown here both as a person and a player and I'll always have Betis in my heart.

"However, this year I've felt useless and rather out of place, I think my time at Betis has now come to an end."
