Fergie's good luck for Forlan
Villarreal striker Diego Forlan has been wished good luck by Sir Alex Ferguson.
Villarreal striker Diego Forlan has been wished good luck by his former manager Sir Alex Ferguson ahead of the game against Arsenal.
Forlan spent two-and-a-half years at Old Trafford after Ferguson stumped up £7.5 million to sign the Uruguayan in January 2002.
But the forward struggled for form with The Red Devils before being shipped out to Villarreal over 18 months ago.
During his debut season in La Liga, Forlan finished top scorer and he has played a key part in Villarreal's run to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals this term.
In the build-up to Wednesday's first leg at Highbury, Forlan has revealed he bumped into Ferguson and had a quick chat with his old boss.
"He was in the lobby of our hotel," said Forlan.
"I did not know he was going to stay down after the Tottenham game, I think he had a bit of business to do.
"He was in the same hotel, so I chatted with him.
"We spoke a little bit about different topics. He wished me luck and to have a good game."
While Forlan has past experience of playing in a Champions League semi-final, he is relishing Villarreal's debut in the last four of Europe's elite competition.
He added: "It is not the first time I have been in the semi-final because I played for United against [Bayer] Leverkusen, but being here for the first time with Villarreal is hard to imagine.
"But we have been playing well for quite a long time, so we should not really be surprised at being in the semi-finals."
