Pompey wait on Lua Lua scan

Portsmouth's Tresor Lomana Lua Lua will undergo a scan on his foot injury on Monday.

Portsmouth striker Tresor Lomana Lua Lua will undergo a scan on Monday to determine whether or not he can play again this season.

The 25-year-old has been one of Pompey's key players in their fight against relegation, but has missed their last three games after injuring his foot while celebrating in the 1-1 draw with Arsenal.

Manager Harry Redknapp is hoping to have the Congolese star available for the last two games of the season, against Wigan and Liverpool, but admits that his fitness is in the balance.

"Lua Lua? I don't know," said Redknapp. "He's going to have a scan on Monday, but he had an injection last week before the Middlesbrough game and was still in a lot of pain.

"Then he tried again before the Charlton game on Monday.

"It has only been a problem since he celebrated with that silly somersault."

Midfielder Pedro Mendes missed Pompey's vital 2-1 win over Sunderland on Saturday with a thigh strain, but his prospects of being involved at Wigan look good.

"Pedro has a week's rest now. So his thigh could settle down and he could play at Wigan," Redknapp explained.
