The 28-year-old left back has agreed a new four-year deal with the club and will now be staying at the Signal Iduna Park until June 2011.

"Dede has been one of our top players for years and is indeed one of the best in the league in his position," commented BVB sport director Michael Zorc.

The Brazilian star also expressed his delight at the deal.

"I have been here for eight years now and in that time the club has grown really close to my heart," he explained.

Dede joined Dortmund from Atletico Mineiro in 1998 and has made a total of 226 appearances for the Bundesliga side.
