Keeper wants Nantes move

Bastia goalkeeper Nicolas Penneteau is keen to join Nantes in the summer.

Bastia goalkeeper Nicolas Penneteau is keen to join Nantes as the two clubs continue negotiations for a summer transfer.

Penneteau has emerged as Nantes' preferred choice to replace Mickael Landreau, who is tipped to join Paris Saint Germain at the end of the season.

The current stumbling block for Penneteau signing for Nantes is that the two clubs are unable to agree on a fee.

Nantes are only prepared to pay around ‚é¼1.5 million (£1 million) for the shot-stopper, but Bastia are holding out for ‚é¼2 million (£1.3 million).

The haggling is due to continue, with the keeper's agent Christophe Mongai confirming his client wants to join Les Canaris.

"It can go very quickly," Mongai told But.

"Nicolas Penneteau doesn't want to make an early declaration, but I can tell you he wants to join Nantes."

Penneteau is reportedly unhappy with Bastia stalling on accepting Nantes' offer as he believes the club are reneging on a gentleman's agreement.

After relegation last season, Penneteau agreed a new contract, but felt Bastia would not block his exit this summer if he had the chance to return to Ligue 1.

Meanwhile, Nantes chairman Rudy Rousillon wants to sign six new players this summer, with Crvena Zvezda ace Nenad Milijas a target.
