Branch extends Clarets stay

Burnley midfielder Graham Branch has signed a one-year extension to his contract.

Burnley midfielder Graham Branch has signed a one-year extension to his contract, keeping him at Turf Moor until the end of next season.

The 34-year-old's current contract expires this summer and some had doubted whether or not his time at Burnley was coming to an end, but the club's longest serving player has now silenced the speculation by putting pen-to-paper.

Branch was delighted to seal the deal, and looked forward with anticipation to next season.

"I am just really happy to get the contract signed again," he told The Clarets' official website.

"The boss (Steve Cotterill) has been brilliant to be honest. He is one of the best managers around, and for him to want me around for another year is great for me personally.

"I am looking forward to it. The legs might not be what they were ten years ago, but I still feel that I have something to offer.

"My form has been good this season and I think next year will be a good one for the team.

"There's no better thing than to be appreciated by the people who support you and it hits home exactly how lucky I am to be at this club," he added.
