Peruzzi eyes new deal

Lazio goalkeeper Angelo Peruzzi is hoping to be rewarded with a new contract at the club.

Peruzzi won his place back in Italy's national team squad because of the on-going problem with first-choice keeper Gianluigi Buffon's shoulder.

Both club and player are thought to be keen to continue working together and the Italian is aiming to get negotiations completed before the start of the World Cup in June.

"About the renewal, there is nothing concrete," said Peruzzi from Italy's World Cup training camp.

"I hope to close negotiations before the World Cup."

Peruzzi's agent and Lazio officials are expected to meet again soon to try and thrash out a deal.
