Denilson now set to move

Denilson has revealed that he now expects to leave Bordeaux in the summer.

Denilson has revealed that he now expects to leave Bordeaux, with the club unable to meet his financial demands.

The Brazilian winger is out of contract in the summer, having spent the season with Les Girondins.

Bordeaux chairman Jean-Louis Triaud had expressed a desire to retain the skilful attacker, while Denilson also appeared keen to stay.

But though Bordeaux can offer UEFA Champions League football next season, Denilson admits he is now likely to be on the move.

"It is true, tonight at Nantes it is my last match," Denilson told L'Equipe. "I am suspended against Marseille, so I will play for Bordeaux for the last time tonight.

"I talked with Ricardo. I didn't feel a great desire from the club to keep me. Or should I say, I don't feel fulfilled by what the club proposes me.

"But Les Girondins can't offer me what I want, so I will leave. It is for sure at 90 percent.

"But it must be clear - I wanted to stay, everything has been positive here. I will only keep good memories from here and I am sad to leave.

"I want to play in the Champions League. I have propositions, but nothing at an advanced stage.

"It is not in France, due to money it is impossible for any French club.

"Today, I know how to defend and work for the team-mates. Denilson is not a problem for the coach anymore. Now I can only thank Bordeaux. Here, I have found again the fun to play football."

Meanwhile, reports claim that Bordeaux coach Ricardo has been offered an extension to his contract to take him up to 2008.

Bordeaux have also been linked with a move for Libourne-Saint-Seurin schemer Mathieu Valbuena, who was educated by Les Girondins.
