Podolski set for Bayern switch

Lukas Podolski has expressed his desire to move from Cologne to Bayern Munich.

Germany international Lukas Podolski has expressed his desire to move from Cologne to Bayern Munich.

The 20-year-old striker is not prepared to stay with the relegated Goats, and has targeted a high-profile move to the newly crowned Bundesliga champions.

Bayern are keen to secure his services quickly, with both Hamburg and Werder Bremen reportedly interested, so a transfer could be imminent.

"I have told the club's bosses that I want to join Bayern Munich," Podolski revealed.

"I'm convinced I have made the right choice and am not at all worried about not playing regularly there."

Bayern general manager Uli Hoeness confirmed that he had "all but reached an agreement" with Podolski's agent and that he would be talking to Cologne in the near future about the details of the transfer.

"We will start negotiations with the aim of making Lukas Podolski a Bayern Munich player on July 1," said Hoeness.
