Elding thrilled by Boston return

Anthony Elding has spoken of his delight at returning to Boston United.

Anthony Elding has spoken of his delight at returning to Boston United after four years away from his hometown club.

The 24-year-old left The Pilgrims in 2002 and joined Nationwide Conference side Stevenage Borough, where he scored 56 goals in 124 appearances.

After a successful loan spell with Conference North side Kettering Town at the end of last season, Boston manager Steve Evans moved to bring Elding back to York Street.

The striker, who says it is a "dream come true" to return to Boston, is looking forward to getting the chance to prove himself in the Football League.

"It's nice to be back playing under an old manager who I totally respect," Elding told the club's official website.

"I've also still got a few old mates here, so all-in-all it's a dream come true and I'm buzzing with excitement.

"I had some great times with Boston. I wish that I had got a longer crack at the Football League, but I moved on and think I've become a better player and scored plenty of goals at Stevenage.

"Hopefully I can do that again for Boston. I've always wanted to do well for Boston and that's no different now I'm back.

"It's been my dream and ambition to play in the Football League and this represents another chance for me.

"My contract expired on Saturday and I got a phone call from the gaffer on Sunday asking if I wanted to come back. I had two or three good offers from other Football League clubs, so I had options, but I'm confident that I've made the right one."
