The midfielder, who is equally at home in defence, only made his debut for Ajax in February 2005 and was rewarded with an international cap against Romania exactly one month later.
Although Ajax struggled in the past season, Maduro belied his tender years with the type of displays which spurred on those around him.
He may be restricted to a bit-part role in Germany, but coach Marco van Basten sees him as a future star and the experience of being at a World Cup will not be lost on the youngster.
